This is the first time at RMM we’ve had a reader’s layout that has been inspired by a painting. It’s OO gauge and took about four months to create.
“I have admired the railway paintings of railway artist Don Breckon for many years, in particular his work Country Connections,” says Waldemar Zawistowicz.
“The painting evokes memories of my childhood and the more I looked at the painting I wondered if I could transpose it into a 3D image. So I decided to make a model of it, indulging in some artistic licence for the areas not visible in the painting.
“I tried to keep the detail as close to the original as possible but inevitably there are some subtle differences such as the later version of the bus, different adverts and figures. So I called my model, Same place, different time.”
