In partnership with the Foxcote Manor Society, the Kent and East Sussex Railway have booked the magnificent Foxcote Manor to run throughout May on their idyllic line. This will be the largest engine ever to operate this railway.
On 14th May the railway will celebrate their shared passion between full size and miniature engineering by staging a display at Bodiam Station of 5” gauge model Manors from The 1/12th Scale Manor Locomotive Appreciation Group.
It is hoped the following locomotives will be on display in the Bodiam Yard: 7801 Anthony Manor (frames only), 7808 Cookham Manor, 7810 Draycott Manor, 7816 Frilsham Manor, 7817 Garsington Manor (possibly in steam on a rolling road), 7820 Dinmore Manor (part rebuild), 7823 Hook Norton Manor and 7827 Lydham Manor.
There will also be displays of other restoration projects including 4709 – ‘The Night Owl’. Come and meet like-minded engineers from both the miniature and full size worlds.
Take a trip behind the full size Foxcote Manor to Bodiam Station and marvel at the mini Manors on display. Meet engineers from the miniature world before embarking on your return journey and enjoying Foxcote Manor in full steam as she barks up the 1 in 52 bank to arrive back at Tenterden Town Station.
Fares are available on the day with a 10% discount on production of a model engineering club membership card.
This is a great way to share our passion with people of all ages, young and less young, and perhaps interest them in becoming involved in these wonderful worlds of steam!
Please note there is no public parking at Bodiam Station.Enjoy more of The Railway Magazine Guide to Modelling every month. Click here to subscribe.
