Doing what comes naturally: Eco-friendly alternatives to plastic modelling materials

There’s a lot we can do to save this poor old planet of ours, but who would have thought that replacing the plastic flocks and scatter materials that are commonly used in modelling with natural materials could make a difference?

GreenScene’s Andrew West certainly does – and to prove it he’s introduced a range of eight products made from a variety of plant materials which are of course fully renewable and completely biodegradable.

They include grass, rock and clump foliage appearances and are packed in 500ml and 100gm lots (depending on product) and before anyone brings it up, they also come in biodegradable bags to maintain the plastic-free integrity!

GreenScene has introduced a new range of modelling materials that are fully renewable and completely biodegradable.

Although shapes and textures might vary from time to time, the use of natural raw materials will always give realistic appearances.

All GreenScene products, including the rocks and boulders, are light in weight and easily attached to your landscape. Grasses are attached by spreading a generous layer of glue over the desired area (a biodegradable type such as PVA is recommended) and then lightly sprinkling them on.

The products all have a natural herb smell that disappears when the packs are opened and they are used. They cost between £3.50 and £4.50 plus p&p.
